Discraft says this about the Malita: "The Malita is built for players who value touch, control, and comfort in the hand. The Malita offers a straight, workable flight ideal for carving lines through the woods or executing precise turnover shots.
What sets the Malita apart is its refined profile: no bead, a slightly smaller diameter, and a noticeably rounded rim that promotes a confident grip for any throwing style—power grip, fan grip, or forehand."
The Paul McBeth Malita (the Spanish form of Malta) is a new midrange designed for subtle turn, high glide, and a comfortable feel for both backhand and forehand throws. It has a straight flight path (especially for beginners), a rounded and beadless rim, and a smaller diameter, making it suitable for touch shots, finesse approaches, and standstill throws. Advanced throwers may find the Malita to feature an understable flight—similar to the Buzzz SS or MVP Detour.
Flight Metrics
Speed
The velocity required to reach a disc's optimal flight path. Range: 1 to 15.
Glide
The measure of lift generated by a disc to stay aloft. Range: 1 to 7.
Turn
The velocity, relative to the speed of the disc, required to cause the disc to turn with the direction of spin. Range: +1 to -5.
Fade
The low-velocity stability that causes a disc to hook at the end of its flight. Range: 0 to 5.
Been throwing the Malita a bit and honestly… it’s kinda nice. Feels like a Malta that chilled out a little and just wants to go straight. Definitely better than the buzz imo on flight and handfeel. Here's my take on the Malita.
Pros:
Super comfy in the hand (beadless rim = clean release).
Flies pretty dang straight with a touch of fade at the end.
Has more glide than I expected — it just kinda floats.
Great for woods or standstill shots where you don’t want a disc dumping early.
Cons:
Headwinds eat it alive
If you crank on it, it can turn more than you’d like. Doesn't hold up to a ton of torque.
Doesn’t feel as reliable on forehands (bit touchy there).
Not really that beefy “trust it in all conditions” mid you may want.
This disc will hold literally any line you put it on. Take that as a pro or a con.
If you want a midrange that’s easy to throw, goes straight, and doesn’t punish you for having a spaghetti arm, the Malita’s worth a look. Just don’t expect it to be a wind fighter.
I got this disc expecting quality plastic and a flight similar to the Buzzz SS. I definitely got the quality plastic, but (and maybe its just my discs/form) the flight is a touch flipper than I expected, flying more in between a Buzzz SS and a Meteor. Great disc with a TON of glide, but much more angle sensitive for people who throw a Buzzz 320' or more. Feels smaller in the hand than a Buzzz and definitely glides farther!
