Axiom Simon Line Time-Lapse
Main Features
Simon Lizotte's inaugural mold, the first 12-speed MVP driver, features a stable-to-overstable flight and nice dome, making this disc a favorite for players of many skill levels.
FROM THE MANUFACTURER
As we mentioned previously, Simon recently released a video on his YouTube channel revealing that we’ve been deep in the lab retooling our first 12-speed driver, the Time-Lapse. We’ve learned some incredibly valuable lessons over the course of the Time-Lapse’s history (which you can read about in MVP Disc Sports Co-Founder Brad Richardson’s Lab Report), and we’ve brought all of that experience to bear for the release of the new and improved retooled Neutron Time-Lapse! While many players found our overstable original run to be a great wind fighter, Simon and MVP had dreams of the Time-Lapse being a staple in everyone's bag as a workhorse, max distance driver. Having made microscopic alterations to several aspects of the Time-Lapse, it now meets Simon and MVP's desired flight. As a result, we’ve updated the flight numbers to more accurately represent it, landing at 12 | 5 | -1 | 2. High-power players will enjoy the glide and flight-extending turn of the retooled Time-Lapse, while lower power players will find it to be a very usable go-to distance driver. We can’t wait for you all to be able to get your hands on this disc and see what our experience has produced. Head over to your favorite MVP dealer to try the new retooled Neutron Time-Lapse for yourself!
The original Time-Lapse: "The first 12-speed featuring GYRO Overmold Technology is also the first Simon Line disc—designed by Simon to feature the best of what a 12-speed can offer. There's enough glide and turn to generate some truly massive flights, but it also has the right amount of fade to make these flights predictable and controllable. When it comes to hand feel, the 22mm rim width represents the perfect middle ground between speed and maximum comfort, while the gentle dome makes the Time-Lapse feel amazing for backhand drives and adds some glide at the same time! High-power players will find the Time-Lapse to be a controllable max-distance crusher—allowing you to create Simon Lines of your own—while low-power players will love the Time-Lapse as a controlled distance driver and potentially a wind fighter as well."
THE STORY BEHIND THE RETOOLED TIME-LAPSE
In 2023, when Simon Lizotte first announced the release of a distance driver with the flight numbers 12 | 5 | -1 | 3, everyone was hoping this would be the gyro version of a Destroyer-like bomber for the MVP lineup—and the early prototypes that Simon tested accomplished this goal with flying colors. However, to everyone's disappointment, the production runs of the Neutron Time-Lapse were just too beefy for most players.
MVP responded to this feedback and immediately began a meticulous investigation into how the production Time-Lapse could differ significantly from the initial prototype Time-Lapse. They discovered several key factors: their measurement tolerances were insufficient for ensuring disc-to-disc consistency, their raw plastic materials lacked strict enough standards to control how the disc formed and cooled, and the production mold could not replicate the prototype's flight at large scale.
Taking these lessons to heart, MVP worked with their supplier to establish stricter material standards, invested in cutting-edge equipment to precisely measure PLH and other metrics, and redesigned the Time-Lapse mold for mass production. With revised flight numbers of 12 | 5 | -1 | 2, the retooled version (version 3) now features a slightly lower parting line for a straighter flight and an adjusted shoulder angle to improve comfort, finally delivering the reliable, workhorse driver everyone was hoping for.
The difference between the Neutron Time-Lapse and the Fission Time-Lapse is hard to overstate. The Fission Time-Lapse offers a much more understable flight, exceptional dome, and lighterweights—making it a recipe for a long-range bomber for the average player.
